Colours & Finishes

Colour is a great way to achieve the look and feel you are after. With our huge range including 40 standard powdercoat colours, plus all the non-standard colours, the anodised and Eurowood colours, choice is at a maximum.

Powdercoating comprises a selection of semi-gloss, matt and metallic finishes.  Powdercoating is the most prevalent colour coating system seen in NZ homes.

Anodising is a particularly attractive and durable metallic finish etched into the metal rather than surface coated. It has 6 colours in both standard and mist finish.  Anodising is coming back into favour with some architects and we have seen some stunning examples of silver anodised joinery with green glass.

Eurowood is a heat bonded woodgrained or patterned coating. It provides a wide range of colour choices, the woodgrain being a favourite for front entry doors.  The graphic to the right is a collage of all of the eurowood colours which include:

  • Walnut colours:    dark
  • Oak colours:    dark, light, white
  • Cherry colours:    dark, light, white, red
  • Acacia
  • Cedar colours:    dark, light, white
  • Douglas fir colours:    dark, light, white, green
  • Pine colours:    dark, light, white
  • Weathered bronze colours:    dark, light, white

For care and maintenance advice, go to the Builders Drop zone, look for Guides and Manuals, and select the Care and Maintenance Guide (GM 2).

Selecting colour can be a ‘marriage breaker’.  We recommend you start with a colour chart (see below) to get yourself into the right colour group, move on to a colour swatch, then, when you are pretty sure you have just about got it right, ask James or Rick to get you  a metal sample.  Sometimes we can give you an address where your chosen colour can be seen in a completed house.

Click here and we will send you one of our Elite colour charts.
